96 Points - Stuart Knox, The Real Review 2022
94 Points - The Wine Front
Tasting Notes:
This is a super fragrant F-Block that unfurls with air; flinty notes of river pebbles, white florals, citrus blossom and grapefruit skin. The palate is multi layered with a good spread of flavours and textures in 2021. Nectarine, camomile, grapefruit, toasted almond with creamy lees influence too. This has hallmark F-Block tight lines, finesse and length, a wine to savour.
Winemaking Notes:
Harvest: 27th of February
Vinification & Elevage: Fruit was whole bunch pressed directly to French oak barriques, (25% new) for wild primary fermentation by wild yeast. 40% of the blend underwent malolactic conversion with no lees stirring, 10 months on lees in oak. 265 dozen produced.
Viticultural Notes:
From low cropped, hand-harvested Gin Gin clone Chardonnay from our 20 year old vines in F Block.
Soil: Very fine silty clay loam topsoil, with richer clay silts in the sub-soil. The soil is restrained in elements which helps to create a balance between vine vigor and fruitfulness.
Climate: Cool climate (although fractionally warmer than the southern Yarra Valley regions) with moderate to high rainfall and humidity.
Aspect: Undulating slopes with varying aspects and blocks designed to channel air flow and drain excess water.

Chardonnay 100%
