Made at Giaconda from the best block on the vineyard. MV6, hand-picked and sorted, one-third each destemmed, whole berries, and whole bunches, open-fermented, wild yeast, matured for 12 months in French oak. The perfumed bouquet of roses and cherry blossom sets the scene for all that follows; elegance and purity are the cornerstones of the perfectly balanced palate, spicy/powdery tannins and cedary oak providing the structure for the now and the hereafter. Pinot Noir is a flexible red, suited to a wide range of dishes. All the highest precision viticulture (best block selection) and total focus winemaking (at the legendary Giaconda winery) goes into this fabulous wine to achieve such perfumed intrigue. Whole berries, whole bunches, wild yeast, fine French oak all add to the whole, while crunchy, bright crimson berries and cherries show a juicy purity as you sip, the finish with the faintest of tannin bitterness. 5 Stars.

Medium to full red/purple hue. The aromas are sweetly scented with red cherry to strawberry aromas, the palate lean and taut, with firm, tight tannins and plenty of grip. There are some humus, foresty notes as well. It's firm, punchy, lively and full of flavour. The structure should see it ageing well.
The clone for this wine is MV6 on own roots. The vines were planted in 1998 and this fruit was hand harvested from the "Reserve" section of the Pinot Noir block in March 2013. Yields are restricted to 1 to 1.5 tonnes per acre. Baume at harvest was 13.9. This wine was bottled in September 2014.
Aged in French oak barriques for 12 months.
