2013 CHARDONNAY

JAMES HALLIDAY WINE COMPANION, 2015 WOW FACTOR WHITES, JULY 2015

Estate-grown, made at Yering Station and matured in French oak for 11 months. Classic Yarra Valley chardonnay, with great length and depth; white peach and nectarine fruit fill the mouth, but the acidity cuts short any tendency to go over the top, the oak also contributing to the structure. Rating 95.

BRETT SMITH, WINE JURY, GEELONG ADVERTISER, March 20 2015

Strong flinty and sweet oak aromas, blending with nectarine and white peach. From Toolangi's Dixons Creek vineyard and aged in French oak for 11 months, it has a rich palate of depth and interest. The fruit flavours of nectarine and white peach intersect with a flinty-sulphide backbone, oak and cashew smoothness. Elegant, but bold flavours and a smooth, rich textural mouth-feel. Some chalky acidity and a lengthy finish. Outstanding at this price.

SEAN MITCHELL, GRAPEOBSERVER.COM, May 29 2015

Toolangi's 2013 chardonnay is another good release from Toolangi in the Yarra Valley.  Performing above its price point, the wine has clean and crisp aromatics of lemon, white peach and cashew.  The palate is similar with characters of nectarine bolstering the noted aromatics. Somewhere between medium and long length on the palate and just right acidity (less elegantly, I wrote "neither fat nor dieting"), this balanced chardonnay release is recommended.

JOE MENEZES, onceuponawine blog spot, April 9 2015

Aged in French oak barriques and puncheons for 11 months, this 2013 Toolangi Chardonnay is a classic high quality Chardonnay. I was amazed at the delicate and smooth texture of this wine. With an array of delicious stone fruits, ruby grapefruit, lightly spiced oak and cleansing acidity, this truly is an incredible Chardonnay. Do yourself a favour and check out this 5 star winery. PATRICK ECKEL, WINEREVIEWER.COM.AU, March 7 2015

The 2013 Yarra Valley release is another great value wine from Toolangi. The wine was made at Yering Station and Oakridge using fruit sourced from the Dixon Creek Estate vineyard. The wine saw 11 months in French oak, and is batting well above its price range.
A flinty nose, with subtle vanillin oak influences alongside peach skins and nectarine fruit. The palate has depth with a fullness of white peach and nectarine being reigned in by chalky acidity and wood induced spice. There is a flinty, sulphide grip on the finish that sets this wine apart, providing length and texture that is comparable to flagship wines of other Yarra Valley producers.

THE WINE GENIUS, SEPTEMBER 2015

Wonderfully complex and varietally concentrated. Finely crafted with hints of oak opulence, less complexity and generous melon and citrus. Delivering ample weight on the palate, with lime juice and peach, all underpinned by bright focused acidity and floral lift.
