95 Points - Halliday Wine Companion 2025
Tasting Notes:
The 2024 shows a complex combination of small red berries, dried herbs, earthy bass notes and a distinct mineral / ferrous quality. The palate is medium bodied, a product of the warmer vintage with flavours of raspberry, cherries and rhubarb. The texture is confident in its tannin profile and the structure holds the fruit and flavour well.
Winemaking Notes:
Hand-picked on the 2nd of March 2024
Fruit is partially destemmed as whole berries (with 50% remaining as whole bunches) and fermented on skins for 3 weeks. The wine is then pressed to French oak barriques (10% new) for malolactic conversion on lees with 9 months maturation prior to bottling.
Viticultural Notes:
Fruit is sourced entirely from MV6 clone in rows 24-34 of D block, which are the original and oldest Pinot Noir plantings (2001) at Toolangi Vineyard in Dixons Creek in the northern end of the Yarra Valley.
